sharing

For me I'm more into what I share and how it will show me online. Ile what will paint me as a villain and what will paint me as a friend. Sharing online can be a mixed bag of everything and it is a scary bag. So I want to focus on what I share because I need to be conscious of what is shared online. Deciding on what to share is the hardest thing because if I share something I could get lots of hate or love for it. Like I said it is a mixed bag of everything on the internet. This is the scare of eternity, the consequences of what you share. The whole internet is one big scare in my opinion. If I shared my opinion on racism I could be bashed for sounding racist or I could be praised for defending the race but either way it would be a different outcome.

The purpose is to use our crap detection to find sharing but also learn more about what sharing on social media is like.

The question I feel is what is sharing and what can happen when you share something online.

Remixing

. REMIXING CONTENT- BLOG POST 20 POINTS

  1. I understand that "remixing content" is when you take an already existing piece of content and change it. In other words, it's like changing beats to a song to give it your own touch. It could also be when someone takes a picture and adds or removes a certain thing, you changed it aka it's been remixed. Remixing is just like giving your creative twist to the original. It's a cool concept but not new like the article says DJs have been doing it for a while now with the music they make.

This is an image I made for my ICS 203 class and it took the original image of the car on a road and made it pop out while also giving it a filter. I feel like this whole assignment was to get us to see where editing comes to play because remixing is like editing in a way. And the question at heart I feel like is can we follow the idea of remixing and how can we learn to use remixing in media?

3 articles I hope its good.

GARY KROEGER: Fake news is crazy like a Fox

Political culture on the internet is promoting fake news — let's regulate it | Chamberlain

https://www.rgj.com/story/opinion/voices/2021/10/13/political-culture-internet-promoting-fake-news-lets-regulate-chamberlain/8436245002/

The three articles above all share the common basis of fake news but let's talk about why one is better than the other First let us talk about the first article and how it could be good or bad. The first one is pretty short and explained that there are people on the internet using social media to circulate false information. A quote I took from the article says this "a template was created posting baseless news that authorities seized huge sums of money from BJP candidate Eatala Rajender using the logo of a TV news channel" this is just an example of the fake news that is going around. But this is the only thing it says and I can say that it doesn't give a good base of fake news so this is a good article to be aware of but not a good one to keep in mind. Now let's move on to the second article which talks about fake news and fox. From my point of view, it tells truth about fox and how it will twist an image and spread false information. Fox News is known for doing this and that they are not as reliable as some may think. Putting my bias aside the person who made this says the same thing and gives an example of what they could do. My personal opinion on fox is that is not a good network but for this article, it does seem like it is biased so I think I would put this at the bottom of the list. The next article is decently long and you guessed it, it talks about fake news. A quick summary of the article is a quote I pulled from it and it is "Massachusetts Institute of Technology, found that fake news was primarily spread by retweets from users, not bots, that would share the misinformation because it was novel or controversial." I feel like this sums it up because it basically says that fake info gets shared because it is controversial. This article is clear and consistent on the theme of fake news and I think that this article is the best for learning about fake ones since it kind of dives down into the fake news topic. It talks about how fake news gets thrown around and how the internet is a public space which I feel like it a great part of the article.

In my opinion, the assignment is to get us to further our skills and learn more on how to detect crap detention. and the question would be How can we learn and how to use the art of crap detention techniques we learned in last weeks lesson.

Fals information

Im going to use the Facebook article as an example and I think that it's a great article because they share solutions to the problem of fake news being shown to the public. The article mentions BuzzFeed and Im going to not put bias into this but I don't trust BuzzFeed most of the time. But other than that news is the news and a lot of it can be faked. I've seen a multitude of fake media on social media especially on TikTok where misinformation could be lurking around the corner. SO on the topic of how to fix fake news, they share some possible solutions 2 of which are used verified news outlets that are you and everyone else knows they are credible. Another solution that they mention is using fact-checking sites that can help flag false articles and fake news articles so it's easier to see. Even though these may not be permanent solutions they will help sniff out the false news sources.

  1. The purpose of the assignment is is to give us an idea on how we can seek true information and sniff out the ones that are fake using different methods

  2. The key question at the heart of the assignment is can we find article that provide us as students the nessacary information to help us watch out for false articles?

crap detention

Inanity From my understanding Inanity is kind of like an accusation with no evidence to back it up. The meaning of Inanity is ignorance it is presented in a cloak of sincerity. I guess it's kind of like stupidity then right in the sense that it is ignorance. The best example I can give is The relationship between Megatron and Starscream from transformers, Starscream is cocky and full of himself yet he's a coward that hides behind lies. What In getting at is that Starscream is ignorant and hides himself behind his own cloak of sincerity so that he hold his status as Megatron's second hand. A more realistic approach with social media would probably be somebody posting a lie and hiding it in between a video of themselves being sorry about it. Is that close enough? I feel like that this whole Inanity paragraph is trying to tell us about the ignorance of the internet and how it's kind of like a facade. Pomposity: You could say that Pomposity is when someone is thinking highly of themselves with no regard to others. Like when someone is too prideful in ones own self that what IM trying to say. I am going to use Starscream as an example again because he thinks way too highly of himself. For example, Starscream is the lieutenant commander of the Decepticon army and he holds that title high above his head too much to the point that makes him think that he can overthrow Megatron. He uses that title to belittle the Decepticons that are below him and even the Autobot that he faces in combat. Starscream is the perfect example to use because it's in his nature to do these sorts of things. In real life like on social media someone commenting something hurtful to another because they have the title of chief advisor to a company or something or even just daily bullying on social media could count. That is what I get from the paragraph. The heart of this paragraph is that pomposity is bullshit that harms people. The purpose of this assignment is to get the students to think of all that bullshit on the web and The question at heart from what I think, it's how can we sniff out bullshit using these terms.

ideas stick

Simple. The definition of simple is to make it clear but not too much. The more proper definition is “In the world of content, less is more. Determine your core message, then communicate it in the most simple process.”  The main point of this is to get to the core. You want to explain the core of the topic so people can understand but not make it too long or it will go right over their head. Well, that is what I think that this means. If you need another way of thinking of it is basically means clear and to the point or making it easy for people to understand but not dumbing it down. An example could be the nazi use of the swastika symbol. The symbol was meant for prosperity and good luck but then turned into the nazi party symbol and those who saw it during the time knew that they were in German territory.

Unexpected. In my words, the definition of unexpected would be to break away from what is normal. In other words, it’s like telling your kids that they are going to school but then you take the turn to Disneyland so they can have fun, it’s like just something happened out of the blue. I guess you could say that being unexpected can be expected like most people want to get the attention of someone so they go to the depths to get that attention but everyone is doing the same so instead you do the opposite of that. An example of this could be when someone on the internet making a video called “Im gonna quit”, people would assume they will quit youtube or something but then in the video that says that they will quit smoking. I feel like that is pretty unexpected right?

Concrete. Make an image in someone’s head that will let them think, that’s what Im going with. I guess you could say that feeding someone a few ideas is the point of painting a picture in their head but it will help people get a better understanding of the concept. An example could be that giving a speech on trump being a good president because of certain things he’s done and it will give them ideas on why he’s good I guess.

Credible. It’s like having statistics and or trusted information that comes from primary sources. It is about having something that is trusted so that it is more believable. That is the whole point of this. The words of me would more be like Do use places like Wikipedia and blog posts that don’t support evidence of the situation. An example would be Someone giving credit to an author on a book that gives insight on suicide awareness and uses actual evidence that is in the book.

Emotional.  Hit people’s cores make them feel something whether it is good or bad emotions. The heart of this is to get to the core of someones being. Reach into the heart of that person that what I feel like this is what it truly means. In other words, make someone cry or make them feel happy. An example would be if Someone posted a post on TikTok about their dad passing and they are grieving in the video this will get others to feel their pain and get them to feel more emotional.

Tells Stories. Stories are the heart of every emotion. By this, I mean that stories can evoke an emotion. The core of this is that stories can stimulate someone’s mind and make them do something or feel something. In other words, You could say that telling stories are part of a conjoined emotion in your head. I feel a perfect example again would be the TikTok post on someone’s deceased dad and the original poster makes that story of how good of a guy they were.

I think that main point of the assignment was to have us learn what it means to make our ideas stick and to hit the core of it.

The main question could probably be can students understand the definition to the success model and can we as the students learn to use these to make post?

images

For the first paragraph, I feel like they are trying to show people that they don’t really know that on the virtual world known as the internet there are free images of high-quality captures. The internet is not filled with just low-end pictures but is in fact full of images that car of the same quality as a professional camera and you can find these on certain websites that provide it to you. As for the second paragraph, I think they are trying to tell us that Copyright laws are important to take into consideration. It should be researched on if you are a Big creator or a small one so that you can see what you can use and what you cant use. Some don’t even care about the law and choose to believe that it doesn’t exist, this is a terrible way to look at it. The first paragraph’s main point is about the public domain and the use of images on the internet that are free to use. While the second paragraph is mostly talking about how you should look into the images because they could carry some weight like a copyright claim. In other words, the first paragraph talks about the way you could look for and use images that are free so you don’t get copyright claims. In other words for the second paragraph, they talk about how using images could hit you with copyright laws you didn’t know existed. An example for both of the paragraphs could be when YouTuber uses an image on the internet but they didn’t use a public domain and say that it’s a picture that they took but it isn’t and the original post creator hit that youtube with copyright claims.

I think the purpose of the assignment is to get us to think of the pros and cons of using images on the internet and that we should use free images that are provided through a website that provides stock images so that we don’t get copyright claims.

The heart of the question is can we as students identify the pros and cons of free image use.

The example I use is do the dishes for the house. This can also be seen as clean the house so your family doesn't need to I guess
