For the first paragraph, I feel like they are trying to show people that they don’t really know that on the virtual world known as the internet there are free images of high-quality captures. The internet is not filled with just low-end pictures but is in fact full of images that car of the same quality as a professional camera and you can find these on certain websites that provide it to you. As for the second paragraph, I think they are trying to tell us that Copyright laws are important to take into consideration. It should be researched on if you are a Big creator or a small one so that you can see what you can use and what you cant use. Some don’t even care about the law and choose to believe that it doesn’t exist, this is a terrible way to look at it. The first paragraph’s main point is about the public domain and the use of images on the internet that are free to use. While the second paragraph is mostly talking about how you should look into the images because they could carry some weight like a copyright claim. In other words, the first paragraph talks about the way you could look for and use images that are free so you don’t get copyright claims. In other words for the second paragraph, they talk about how using images could hit you with copyright laws you didn’t know existed. An example for both of the paragraphs could be when YouTuber uses an image on the internet but they didn’t use a public domain and say that it’s a picture that they took but it isn’t and the original post creator hit that youtube with copyright claims.
I think the purpose of the assignment is to get us to think of the pros and cons of using images on the internet and that we should use free images that are provided through a website that provides stock images so that we don’t get copyright claims.
The heart of the question is can we as students identify the pros and cons of free image use.
I am questioning the accuracy of your statement,"The heart of the question is can we as students identify the pros and cons of free image use." The assignment discussed more along the lines how to find public domain images online and if you decide to use another personʻs image, make sure you are given permission by the person and the image is attributed or you could be found in a copyright infringement suit. A more accurate question could be "what type of images can we post online without those images being copyrighted?"
