Hashtags

2. ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS ABOUT HASHTAGS BLOG POST - 30 POINTS

Create a new blog post by choosing 2 NEW questions (from last time), to answer from the list below.

  1. What is a hashtag?

Hashtags are specific words or phrases people will put in the captions of the post to show a certain topic. I guess you could say that a hashtag is a thing that can help you further your reach of the post you just made. It's hard to really explain but it's just a simple word or phrase that helps show your post. There is no real example of this. The example would be below when I talk about the purpose of a hashtag.

  1. What is the purpose of a hashtag?

Think of it like this: you just took a picture of the new spiderman no way home poster and are about to watch it in theaters. You post the picture online and you put a description but nobody other than your friends and family sees your post. If you were to have used a hashtag like #Spiderman or #MarvelSpiderman or something that could be seen in a category your post would be put out more. Since it would be trending during the week of the movie's release you would probably get more views and likes on your post. This is the purpose it helps you that's really it, It gets your post out there for others to see.

The assignment focuses on hashtags and how to use them and how to understand them but I think the question is how can we use them to help us in our post on social media.

Social media strategies

JOIN INSTAGRAM, TWITTER, FACEBOOK, AND PINTEREST.

1. ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS ABOUT A "SOCIAL MEDIA STRATEGY" BLOG POST- 30 POINTS

Create a new blog post by choosing 2 NEW questions to answer from the list below.

  1. What exactly are you focused on about your social media strategy?

I feel like when you use social media strategy you're more focused on pushing out content that is just enough to get you into that state of people seeing it but also you're trying to make sure that you don't accidentally leak things about you. You try to preserve yourself by owning your words, hiding your identity, and also trying to have fun with the latest trends. The closest that I can relate is an example of TikTok since it's the social media I use the most. I see many people of different ideologies and a lot try to keep themselves hidden with masks, glasses, hats or they just don't show their face entirely.

  1. What conclusions are you coming to about a social media strategy?

My personal opinion and conclusion on social media strategy are that It is a set path of social media that you follow. I for one don't post often whether it's TikTok, Instagram, or even Twitter I usually use them to see others' posts or as a chatting system with friends. Social media is cool but I don't think Im up for the challenge of trying to be a people icon right now. Even knowing about the social media strategy is still something that is weird for me. It is a stepping stone for the future though.

The main focus of the assignment I think is to get us to familiarize ourselves with the basic understandings of the strategy to help us in social media. The question Is possibly on the lines of What can we learn and adapt from having the knowledge of Social Media Strategies?

sharing

Preparing Your Content for Facebook Sharing

  1. I don't fully understand what shaping content for Facebook means but I do suspect that it has to do with making a headline pop and getting people to interact with your post. I guess in other words it could be gaining people's attention with a big sign that says "hey look at this news story on racism", But I could be wrong about that. I feel like it is in a sense like that though cause you're trying to get people to interact with the post. I don't know any good examples that could be used for Facebook but when I go on Facebook I see ads for websites that show new clothing lines or people posting about surveys and petitions but it's mostly my friends and family so it would be for them to really see.

Preparing Your Content for Twitter Sharing

  1. Twitter is a battleground by today's standards, this place is one you don't want to get caught in. The lands of twitter are notorious for having to cancel culture written all over it. Twitter users look for things that they can share in real-time and something that's always fresh to retweet this ranges from articles to normal drama on the web. A lot of Twitter's community is also there for statistics and polls that people can vote on this is what catches eyes on the field of heated arguments on Twitter. If you didn't catch what I said, I basically said that Twitter is where people look for news. An example of this is the twitters search page it is full of the most trending news stories or hashtags and as of writing this one of the top hashtags that are on the trending page is Adele and the second one is the Raiders, football team.

Preparing Your Content for Pinterest Sharing

  1. What I know of interest is that the better it looks the more you get out of it. It's all about style and visuals on Pinterest. Most people on Pinterest look for things that they can do by themselves as well some top categories are DIY and Home decor. An example that feel like Pinterest could use is someone posting a quick recipe of chocolate ice cream that doesn't involve normal sugar and is very easy to make. Easy enough to use the pin DIY.

Preparing Your Content for Instagram Sharing

  1. The base of Instagram is a post of videos and pictures with the addition of Stories and Reels. Instagram users seek posts that are using popular Hashtags and content that are in a multitude of categories, these can range in funny, provocative, news, and more. These factor into how you share on Instagram. A way I can explain it is that it's like how Hawaii is a boiling pot of people that are all part of different cultures. Instagram is a boiling pot of a multitude of posts and hashtags. I guess an example could be my Instagram I see a lot of cosplayers and people who play games because that's what I look for.

I don't know exactly what the purpose of this assignment is but I feel like it goes on the line of learning the basics of sharing on different platforms and I think the question is How can We learn about the ins and outs of the socialmedia apps we use daily.

questions

What is spreading your ideas with social media?

From My understanding of social media “Spreading Ideas” through social media is basically your post. What you post is what you share just like how we talked about sharing. When You share something you pull your ideas and put it up on the internet to see. Personally, I see it this way, and others can disagree with me but, the way I interpret sharing ideas on the biggest spider web of consequences is that it's a gateway and a journal of your past. With this, you meet people who will respect your ideas, and then there are others who will attack you for it. Sharing your ideas on the Government's personal spying program has its perks. As stated before you get to meet people who will respect you and gain new connections because of the ideas you share. This Is just my opinion though others can agree or others can disagree.

What is the purpose of spreading your ideas with social media?

Honestly, I will say that Sharing ideas on the Internet is a purpose in itself. The reason why people share is to get their voices out in the world. They can seek different things when they share some of which could be people looking for attention and others looking for an answer. To me, there is not just one purpose but depending on the results you want there could be multiple purposes to posting and sharing your ideas.

The purpose of this assignment I feel is to get us familiar with the whole idea of sharing our own ideas on the web and what it really means.

The question could be How can students share their own knowledge and use new knowledge to come up with more of an understanding of the lesson.

base

2. READ WITH A PURPOSE ABOUT ESTABLISHING A POSITIVE PRESENCE ONLINE- BLOG POST-20 POINTS.

  1. I read the article and I feel like the major thing it tells is that we decide on the base of operations. We are the ruler of the platform we create and we try to make a consistent image that is linked to either our name or our profile. The article goes on to talk about the way you can be seen online and what can be spread. Itl also says that you can have certain things taken down if there are things that will hurt your reputation or things that are not true about yourself. This is a good base article to read and wonder what you can do to create a platform and image for yourself online but one thing that caught my eye was that 4 out of 5 people are successful in getting the post taken down. I feel like that in previous years that is true and also maybe true even today with cancel culture but in my opinion and experience with the internet it's not always the case cause some things don't just get taken down. I think a good example of building a base is people who have used social media. This does goe against the article but people like Jacksepticeye, Dantdm, and Graystillplays have great communities. They joined the platform known as youtube and were able to set an image of themselves they are comfortable with.

  1. The purpose of this assignment is to get us students thinking about where we started and what image we painted on the internet. And the question could be can we make our own definition of how to start a base on the internet?

footprint

1. ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS ABOUT DIGITAL FOOTPRINTS- BLOG POST- 20 POINTS

  1. What is a digital footprint?

In the words of the article a digital footprint is” all the stuff you post online on your social media accounts, in comment sections, while playing an app or sending an email. Every retweet, like or +1 is part of your online history, and could potentially be seen by people who are outside your circle of friends and acquaintances.” I guess that in a way it's like your instagram, twitter, facebook activity and even more. Your digital footprint is basically your internet history. You gotta keep it cleared if that makes sense. An example would be an incident with a youtuber that had some history on twitter when they had an opinion that was racially wrong and it was a few years back and they weren't able to clear it.

  1. If I decided to create a digital footprint what would happen?

First of If you leave a digital footprint you control what you leave. You are the only one that determines what is put on that footprint. So if you wanted to leave a comment or a tweet of you saying racial slurs to someone and don't delete it or anything people will remember it or will dig through your account to find it. An example of this is the multiple people on tiktok, instagram and youtube that have been cancelled due to the past being brought back on their social media accounts like shane dawson when he allegedly was soliciting minors 10 years ago. There is video evidence that was one of his older videos.

The purpose of this assignment is to get us thinking of what we leave on the internet. I feel like the question is how can we prevent having a digital footprint that will have a bad outlook on us?
